Self Employed

If you meet the criteria to be classed as self-employed you will be able to maximise your contracting income by working through one of our self-employed models. By being self-employed, you can benefit from:

  • Maximising your income
  • Review of your control status to ensure correct tax treatment
  • Remittance advice for your records
  • Access to our public liability insurance for only £2.00 per week

In April 2014 there was a change in law for the self-employed that are subject to supervision, direction or control and that provide their services via an intermediary: the self-employed person will be subject to PAYE and NI. However, regardless of if you’re under supervision, direction or control, or even self-employed in the construction industry, Impact has a solution for you.

If under Supervision, Direction or Control (Including Construction Industry)
Impact ensures that payments made to you are subject to tax as necessary to meet your legal requirements. You will be paid on a weekly basis and will be able to claim eligible employment expenses, which will maximise your take-home-pay. If you are paid in this way for the full tax year, you will not need to submit a self-assessment at the end of the year.

If not under Supervision, Direction or Control
Impact takes care of all your administration, for example, dealing with your invoices and remittance. You will need to arrange for any tax and National Insurance due to be paid at the end of the year when you do your self-assessment return.

Working within the Construction Industry
If you are self-employed and not under supervision, direction or control in the construction industry, then Impact will pay you subject to the required deductions under the Construction Industry Scheme.  You will be required to complete a self-assessment return at the end of the year to keep your tax affairs up to date.
